This introductory chapter serves to provide definitions and give some basic information regarding the topics of dynamics, vibrations, experimental modal analysis, structural control, shape optimization and coupled field problems. It should be noted that these topics find application in civil, mechanical and aerospace engineering. Despite the theoretical background being the same for these disciplines, the problems treated are quite different, something obvious when one considers, e.g., the dimensions of buildings versus those of aircraft, of machines and of mechanical components.

摘要

This introductory chapter serves to provide definitions and give some basic information regarding the topics of dynamics, vibrations, experimental modal analysis, structural control, shape optimization and coupled field problems. It should be noted that these topics find application in civil, mechanical and aerospace engineering. Despite the theoretical background being the same for these disciplines, the problems treated are quite different, something obvious when one considers, e.g., the dimensions of buildings versus those of aircraft, of machines and of mechanical components.
