This final chapter presents the main conclusions of my study. I begin by outlining the ‘dignity’ of fantasy in relation to studying emancipatory identifications. Next, I identify commonalities among the reconstructed fantasies, arguing that they reveal a significant continuity with neoliberalism’s libidinal economy. Drawing on Todd McGowan’s concept of ‘pure excess’, I suggest this continuity stems from excessive unconscious responses to the already excessive call of the Other. Finally, I use these insights to advance the conceptual discussion on the possibility of emancipatory fantasies.

摘要

This final chapter presents the main conclusions of my study. I begin by outlining the ‘dignity’ of fantasy in relation to studying emancipatory identifications. Next, I identify commonalities among the reconstructed fantasies, arguing that they reveal a significant continuity with neoliberalism’s libidinal economy. Drawing on Todd McGowan’s concept of ‘pure excess’, I suggest this continuity stems from excessive unconscious responses to the already excessive call of the Other. Finally, I use these insights to advance the conceptual discussion on the possibility of emancipatory fantasies.
