The Fantasy of Sleeplessness
摘要
This chapter offers an interpretation of the psychic labour involved in responding to the revolt’s central motto, ‘Chile woke up’, through the fantasy of sleeplessness—an imaginary narrative that enables subjects to reclaim self-recognition amid the revolt’s desiring call. Drawing on a non-pathological theory of hallucinations, I examine the psychic strain involved in identifying with the estallido. My interpretation reveals a paradox: we know we are awake, but not to what. I suggest that, to navigate this uncertainty, some individuals identify not with the content of the call but with its source: the Other of the estallido.
