Francisco Grande Covián: Physiology of Nutrition
摘要
Francisco Grande Covián, born in 1909 in Asturias, was a prominent figure in nutritional physiology. He studied medicine in Madrid and worked in various European labs, making significant contributions to metabolic research. During the Spanish Civil War, he focused on nutritional needs and deficiency treatments. After facing political challenges post-war, he moved to the United States, joining the University of Minnesota to study caloric restriction and lipid metabolism. He pioneered studies that linked dietary fats to cholesterol levels. Returning to Spain, he worked again in Zaragoza University (my reincarnation) continuing his impactful research on lipid metabolism and nutrition. And studying the metabolism of maternal milk and pregnancy. He was revered as an inspiring educator and influential scientist.
