The Nursery. 1306 plants for Timisoara was a controversial installation. Proudly representing the European Capital of Culture 2023 for 10 months in the most history-laden square of the city, it was an experiment equally loved and hated. On the one hand, the paper aims to provide a discourse analysis for the printed booklet that accompanied the installation. To do that, we focus on discursive strategies, power and lexical approach. On the other hand, using a social semiotic advance to spatial discourse analysis, we aim to examine the installation and its relation to the community of the city that hosted it. For this purpose, we identify meaning-based resources across the representational, organizational and interactional metafunctions. To conclude, we compare the results and observe the similarities and differences between the two approaches.
