Digitalization: A Crucial Driver for the Growth of Cooperatives in the Republic of Bashkortostan
摘要
The research focuses on exploring the state of consumer cooperatives in the region. The cooperative sector makes a substantial contribution to the economy and fulfills a social mission by organizing enterprise operations, creating jobs, and providing financial assistance to enhance territories. In the ranking of material well-being, Bashkortostan’s position has declined due to a slowdown in the standard of living, demographic trends, and a reduction in the labor force. The research analyzes the level of social and economic development in the region and the contribution of cooperatives to the regional economy, examines the financial indicators of cooperative enterprises, and highlights successful practices. Regional government policy is focused on supporting the development of the cooperative movement. The authors identified factors hindering the growth of cooperation and challenges in product distribution, including limited product volumes, low competitiveness, and high production costs that impede entry into large retail chains. These chains impose demands such as price reductions, volumes that are unmanageable for small enterprises, and uninterrupted supply. Consequently, the preferred forms of product distribution for cooperative enterprises remain their stores, fairs, markets, or sales to resellers at mutually beneficial prices. The authors highlight the advantages of implementing digital technologies, such as innovative forms of electronic commerce based on marketplaces, which can establish a new development direction and offer recommendations for enhancing the economic efficiency of cooperatives.
