Current and Future Directions of Artificial Intelligence in Education
摘要
As evidenced throughout this volume, AI technologies are reshaping how we conceptualise learning and teaching. From early childhood to higher education, and from classroom practice to assessment systems, AI’s influence spans the entire educational spectrum. This concluding chapter serves as both a synthesis and a forward-looking analysis. Drawing together insights from the preceding chapters, it identifies recurring themes that characterise current directions in AI and education: technological innovation, pedagogical transformation, narrative and cognitive scaffolding, assessment evolution, inclusion and equity considerations, curriculum and student AI competency development, and teacher capacity building. These themes collectively illustrate the breadth of AI’s impact while also revealing tensions around equity, ethics, and human–AI partnerships. The chapter then looks ahead to consider future directions, including evolving human–AI collaborations, integration of AI literacy across curricula, redefined educator roles, reimagined assessment frameworks, and institutional ecosystems that sustain innovation. In doing so, it highlights AI not merely as a set of tools but as a catalyst for rethinking educational purposes, practices, and possibilities.
