Energy Consumption and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Evidence from High Tech Industry in Indonesia
摘要
This study aims to understand the condition of energy consumption in Indonesia’s high-tech industry and how energy consumption is related to the achievement of SDGs. The high-tech industry is important in Indonesia because it is a pillar of national development, but research in this field is still very limited. The descriptive approach is used in research methodology, with the population or all components of the research subject serving as a data source. The population is drawn from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) manufacturing industry statistical dataset for manufacturing industries classified as high-tech in 2019. The findings show that Indonesia’s high-tech industry has a total of 4,520 companies. Most companies in this industry are already aware of the importance of using environmentally friendly fuels, with an average of 55%. This result is expected to support the achievement of SDGs in Indonesia, especially related to SDG 7 and SDG9. Further research can look at the comparative aspect of the low technology industry and medium technology industry categories in energy consumption and SDGs.
