Lumbar Segmental Instability
摘要
The lumbar spine is stabilised by bony components, ligaments, muscles, tendons, and neuronal input. Failure of these structures to balance biomechanical forces during static or dynamic situations can lead to lumbar spinal pathology. Both clinical and radiographic methodologies are used in diagnosing and classifying instability-related pathologies. Pathologies of the lumbar spine can be classified by whether they involve displacement, compression, or degeneration. Each pathology features a change in the neutral zone and a breakdown of stabilisation at either the osteoligamentous, musculotendinous, or neuronal levels.
