Smart Crop Advisory Systems for Pest and Disease Management
摘要
The agricultural industry continues to grapple with consequences of resource exhaustion, climatic catostrophe, outbreaks of pests and diseases, and demands for food security. Smart agricultural advisory systems (SCAS) are cutting-edge tools that utilize advanced technology to enhance farm management and advocate for sustainable measures aimed at alleviating such concerns. SCAS combines state-of-the-art breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), remote sensing, and big data analytics to offer famers real-time actionable recommendations tailored to their crops, location, and environmental conditions. SCAS aggregates multiple data sources, such as market trends, crop health metrics, soil properties, and weather patterns. Satellite and drone imaging enable widespread agricultural observation, while sensors and IoT devices allow field monitoring in real time. These practices not only maximize productivity and lower costs but also enhance sustainable farming by confining wastage of resources and excessive use of chemicals. This chapter analyzes SCAS design and the underlying elements, and assesses the potential of contributing to precision farming and the viability of providing easy-to-use multilingual online platforms to smallholder farmers. Several case studies highlight their pragmatic applications, with benefits including enhanced resistance to climate uncertainty, higher yields, and less farm loss. This chapter also cover the problems like digital illiteracy, privacy issues around data, and costs of implementation that are too high, and suggests synergistic solutions for addressing these problems. SCAS form part of sustainable agriculture, bringing together conventional farming practices with sophisticated technology to improve economic growth, environmental protection, and access to food.
