The circular economy has emerged as a transformative model aimed at decoupling economic growth from resource consumption by promoting sustainability, waste reduction, and closed-loop production systems. We develop a systematic methodology to explore the academic landscape of circular economy based on author keyword analysis and assess the integration of digital technologies, particularly Industry 4.0, within this area. We analyze articles from Scopus to assess the relevance of circular economy in academia and the most frequent topics related to circular economy, including its intersection with Industry 4.0. The study provides valuable insights into the evolving relationship between circular economy and digital technologies.
