Hospitals in Albania are constantly growing as a structure, offering more services, in the context of caring for the health of people, whose average life expectancy has increased. Hospitals in urban areas are being grouped into regional hospitals, increasing the range of services, improving quality, and modernizing them. An example of a regional hospital is the Shkodra Regional Hospital, located in Shkodra that offer services to more than 190 thousand people. Direction of patients and visitors to the hospital is usually done by directional signs placed inside and outside the hospital structures, and direction for patients and visitors visiting the hospital for the first time presents difficulties. The results of the questionnaire conducted with first-time or infrequent patients and visitors indicate the need to build an internal localization and navigation system in the hospital. We propose implementing AI-powered indoor positioning and navigation systems in the Regional Hospital of Shkodra that represents a strategic advancement toward the realization of a smart hospital environment.
