The Bronchoscopy Suite
摘要
A bronchoscopy suite equipped with complete anesthesia service support is a cornerstone for establishing and expanding any interventional pulmonary practice. The pros and cons of performing the interventional pulmonary procedures in a bronchoscopy suite versus the operating room should always be considered and investigated thoroughly. The design of the bronchoscopy suite should be focused on creating adequate space for all the personnel and equipment needed while allowing for additional support in the event of an emergency. Environmental and procedure-related hazards encountered in a bronchoscopy suite are well known and safety protocol needed to protect both the patients, and the personnel must be established. This chapter will address all the above concerns and give guidance on how to establish a safe anesthesia practice in the bronchoscopy suite away from the operating room environment.
