A reading recognition method for digital display meters was proposed through three processes: dial text and text field extraction, text character segmentation, and character recognition. The implementation and performance comparison of the three character recognition methods used were conducted, and the deep learning model recognition method was ultimately chosen as the final solution for the character recognition step.
