This chapter covers some of the fundamental functionalities of various AI technologies. The importance of data quality and interoperability is identified and need to be considered as pre-requisites to the safe, efficient and effective use of AI technologies. These concepts are described in terms of known relationships between data, information, knowledge and information system technologies within any digital health ecosystem. Risk mitigation strategies to be considered prior to AI adoption to support nursing practice at any point of care need to be explored. It is argued that AI adoption, including the use of robots, has the potential to reduce nursing time spent on documentation and workflow inefficiencies. The chapter concludes with a discussion about patient care and ethical considerations associated with the use of AI technologies.

摘要
