Development of Psychosomatic Medicine in Spain
摘要
This chapter briefly reviews the historical development and current state of Psychosomatic and Liaison Psychiatry (PLP) in Spain, reflecting a commitment to integrating psychological and medical perspectives in healthcare. While the American C-L models initially strongly influenced the model, the influence of European psychosomatic views was soon apparent, as well as the emphasis on Primary Care. The growth of the field is clear, and most public hospitals taking part in a national enquiry reported that they now have an active specialized PLP Unit. Educational initiatives in PLP have made notable strides, particularly in psychiatry training, and Spain has emerged as a leader in PLP research, supported by initiatives like CIBERSAM, national network uniting top research groups. PLP Units are now indispensable in both hospital and outpatient care, and they stimulate psychosomatic principles in Primary Care.
