摘要

AI as deployed today realises little of its potential to boost human productivity. This produces poor outcomes for those who deploy and use it and for those who seek to regulate it. This paper reviews the opportunities for AI to boost productivity in ways deeply beneficial to society and our species. AI in healthcare can drive better health outcomes and reduce costs. AI in education can improve educational outcomes, enhance productivity across economies and drive societal growth. Geospatial applications of AI can optimise our use of cities, land and transportation, improving quality of life and reducing pollution. Market forces alone are not setting the right direction for AI use, but wise intervention by governments and other actors can guide us towards positive, transformative use of AI.
