Anatomy and Physiology of the Vestibular System

The human vestibular system facilitates proper balance by sensing and integrating movement. In general, vestibular anatomy and physiology can be divided into peripheral and central components. This chapter summarizes the structural organization and the physiological processes relevant to functioning of the vestibular system in healthy individuals.
