Environmental Leadership for Those Not in Charge: Pragmatism, Critical Inquiry, and the Workable Good
摘要
Improving the quality of air, water, and soil requires learning to work with groups of people who have distinct and cherished values, interests, and identities. Environmental leaders must be able to assess complex dynamics that flow across jurisdictional boundaries, identify points of leverage and convergence, and navigate ongoing tensions as well as points of difference. When difficult choices are necessary, environmental leaders must be able to find the workable good and build constituencies for conservation over the long term. Paul Hirsch describes the elements of an online graduate curriculum designed to develop the qualities of agility and discernment required by leaders who wish to address today’s multifaceted environmental challenges.
