Analysis of the Need to Implement Sustainability Practices Associated with the Well-Being and Health of Kitchen Staff in a Tourist Hotel in Costa Rica
摘要
This study analyzes the need to implement sustainable practices focused on the well-being and health of kitchen staff at a tourist hotel located in Tortuguero National Park, Costa Rica. Using a qualitative methodology, the study identified working conditions that pose risks to the physical and mental health of staff, lack of health surveillance programs and high stress levels. Although the hotel has made progress in environmental sustainability, there remains a gap in managing employee well-being. It is recommended to develop comprehensive occupational health policies that include medical monitoring, active break programs, and psychosocial support, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. This would enhance the hotel’s social sustainability and ensure safer, healthier working environments.
