Heinz Werner is considered one of the founders of Developmental Psychology. Werner’s Developmental Psychology encompasses work that addresses various topics, such as Comparative Psychology, symbol formation, perceptual development, and individual differences (and their relation to the whole). The theoretical strength of his contribution may be felt across different fields, including Psychology, Education, Neurology, and Pediatrics. It is, above all, a valuable resource for educators, teachers, researchers, undergraduates, and graduates. Despite the potential of his body of work, Werner seems to be fading into obscurity. In this introductory chapter, we describe general aspects of Heinz Werner’s life while discussing the reasons why he may be sinking into oblivion. To conclude, we introduce several theoretical studies involved in the critical reassessment of Werner’s legacy. They enable his thought to have a future, associated with the production of new (and valuable) knowledge.

摘要
