Using Commonly Available Electrodynamic Exciters as Vibration Absorber
摘要
There is a wide spectrum of electrodynamic exciters on the market. They are used as sources of vibration for personal audio experiences, engineering applications, and therapeutic purposes. Because the exciters are single-axis damped mechanical resonators with electrodynamic coupling, it is possible —using an electronic circuit connected to the exciter terminals—to influence the mechanical parameters and transfer energy between the electrical and mechanical domains. The application of vibration absorbers is one of the fundamental methods of vibration damping, and it is therefore possible to use an electrodynamic exciter as a vibration absorber. This article describes the measurement of mechanical and electrical parameters of selected exciters driven by sinusoidal vibration. The parameters of a simplified exciter model were determined. The effect of the attached exciter on the vibration of a cantilever beam excited by an impact hammer was measured. The time responses of a simple cantilever beam, a cantilever beam loaded with a ballast weight equal to the weight of the exciter, and a cantilever beam damped by the exciter were compared. The measured data were further compared with the results of model calculations.
