This study examines China achievements in smart education as a model for nations developing smart education policies and lifelong learning systems. Focusing on selected provinces, cities, and schools, it highlights digital transformation initiatives enhancing China’s smart learning ecosystem, aligned with the ‘China Education Modernization Policy 2035’. Using ecosystem theory, the study demonstrates how smart classrooms foster digital competencies in teachers and learners. This study shows a shift from traditional pedagogy to digitized smart learning, leveraging AI, machine learning, VR, and digital twins to transform the Chinese education system for national development through the Modernization Policy 2035.
