The Observability module of GEMINIS is a modular framework for evaluating the environmental sustainability of IoT infrastructures, defined as the infrastructure that enables advanced services by interconnecting (physical and virtual) things. Moving beyond traditional energy-focused assessments, GEMINIS introduces extended metrics and monitoring practices that capture a broader ecological footprint, including resource use, e-waste, and water consumption. The Observability module establishes the foundation for sustainability analysis through metric definition, tool deployment, and standardized data collection. By enabling granular, consistent monitoring, GEMINIS empowers organizations to assess and improve the environmental impact of their IoT systems.
