In my discussion of the representation of Ifá divination motif in Yoruba video films in this chapter, I argue that the exploitation of the tradition manifests through the exhibition of the iconic objects of Ifá divination (the most prominent being the divining tray – ọpọ́n ifá, the sacred divination palm-nuts – ikin, the sacred divining powder – ìyẹ̀ròsùn, the sacred divination chain – ọ̀pẹ̀lẹ̀, and lots-casting object – ìbò); the characterization of Ifá diviner-priests in actor-diviners; the recreation of Ifá divination process and the accompanying sacrifices; and the reinvention of the performance of ìyẹ̀rẹ̀ Ifá chant.
