Semantic Expansion of Adult Student Profiles for Professional Support Tool for Andragogues
摘要
In this work we consider the reasons and possibilities of semantic expansion of the profile structure of the adult students to reflect their educational needs, life circumstances and existing experience that andragogues have to take into account for personified learning. We analyze standards used for student profiling by various education systems to determine their features, the possibility of using them to describe special situations at andragogue professional work and integration with the Semantic Web technologies. We consider various practical situations where the profile of an adult student needs to be supplemented by semantic properties that significantly affect the Personal Learning Trajectory (PLT) construction and identify some basic groups of such properties. We also take into account potential disadvantages of the semantic expansion of student profiles such as increased computational complexity, cross-platform integration and interoperability. This expanded profile of adult student we formalize as a class of the ontological model of the learning ecosystem and implement it into the ActiveBook personalized repository that supports the professional activities of andragogues, such as the selection of learning objects and PLT construction. ActiveBook is based on the Semantic MediaWiki and provide the flexible extension of the semantic annotation scheme that allows andragogues to add their own semantic properties to student profiles and metadata of learning objects.
