Wideband Rectangular Ring-Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna for WLAN and 5G NR Sub-6 GHz applications
摘要
This paper shows the design, modeling and simulation of a rectangular microstrip patch antenna engineered for WLAN and 5G NR Sub-6 GHz applications. The antenna is fabricated on 1.6mm thick FR4 substrate featuring ring slots on the radiating patch and DGS in the ground plane. The proposed antenna demonstrates wide bandwidth of 876 MHz ranging from 4.74 GHz to 5.62 GHz with dual resonances at 5.0 GHz and 5.5 GHz, exhibiting return loss of -23.48 dB and -35.08 dB, and gain of 4.09 dB and 4.11 dB respectively. Additionally, the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) remains below 2 across all resonant frequencies, indicating efficient performance. The proposed design establishes robust wideband operation, stable gain, efficient radiation characteristics, make it suitable for 5 GHz wireless standards including IEEE 802.11a/ac/ax and the 5G NR n46 band, fixed satellite mobile communications, and maritime radio navigation applications.
