Methodology for Implementation of Seamless Mobile IP and Mobility Management in NextGen Wireless Systems

The mobile Internet Protocol (IP) is the key technology to support mobile data applications in wireless mobile systems. With the extensive use of packet-based data transmission and exponential growth in mobile computing, efficient means to implement seamless connectivity has been challenge for the technologists in the recent times. Mobile IP addresses the mobility issues regardless of device location while retaining their IP address. This paper proposes the implementation methodology for enabling seamless mobile management and ubiquitous connectivity in next generation (NextGen) wireless systems. The Mobile IP operation includes an authentication registration procedure and agent discovery process. An extension of Mobile IP is route optimization that provides updation of binding caches, acquiring registration keys for smooth handoffs, and using IP-within-IP encapsulation or tunneling. All these aspects pertaining to seamless Mobile IP and mobility management are presented here.
