Naqab Bedouin Women’s Leadership and Activism(s)
摘要
This Chapter situates Naqab Bedouin women’s activisms(s) amid twenty-first-century Middle East civil society movements and studies of Palestinian women’s political leadership. In particular, it examines concepts of third sector, civil society, and activism within the context of the region. It then argues for further exploration of differences and intersectionalities among Palestinian women’s activism(s) in order to move beyond dichotomies of nationality, private/public politics, and rigid categories of agency/oppression in order to better account for the fluidity of everyday practices of sumud (or steadfastness) that inform Naqab Bedouin women’s activism(s). Here, we argue that by analyzing intersectional identity politics we can more effectively understand how practices and languages of activism(s) change over time and place. Finally, it examines the concept of life histories and biographical writing on Middle Eastern women and defines our concept of intergenerational activist biographies.
