It begins with an overview of the ethical debate surrounding Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems and the notion of human control discussed in this context. The chapter then outlines the evolution of Decision Support Systems and identifies six key ethical challenges posed by their use in military settings. It then turns to the philosophical framework of MHC and demonstrates how it can help address these challenges, concluding with an analysis of the technical, normative, and design requirements that need to be met to ensure that AI-MDSS operate under meaningful human control.
