Interior Regeneration Through Multisensory Atmospheres
摘要
The chapter reports on an experimental study aimed at investigating the impact on human behavior of the characteristics of spaces, with particular reference to interiors regenerated through multimodal perceptual features. As highlighted by neuro-aesthetics, our relationship with places does not only consist of a visual contemplation but, through multi-sensory perception, it is an experience that involves the body in its entirety. Temporary installations within a disused building have been designed and set up on a scale of 1:1, based on different sensorial combinations; behaviors in the presence of diverse space conditions, using both qualitative and quantitative observation methods, have then been detected and final guidelines outlined to improve the experience in interior regeneration design.
