This chapter aims to provide a better understanding of the decision support system (DSS) before dwelling on the DSS silo models to give the readers clear pictures and a mind map of the following chapters. It elucidates the DSS structures and features, some output displays, processes to maintain the legitimacy of the framework and the data, and the efforts to ensure data equity and uncertainties. It also reflects on the scope and limitations of the DSS, the implications of the power of data, and possibly obscuring (further) uncertainties in the data itself.
