Robust Mission Network Analysis: The Theory
摘要
Impactful analysis of a mission network defined by its dependency mapping depends heavily on parameters to accurately capture its dependencies. Experience tells us that estimating such parameters precisely is fraught with challenges. Ignoring such realities risks inappropriate recommendations. Chapters 7 and 8 confront this brutal fact by extending existing robust optimization methods to create the capability of defensive mission network analysis which is robust to imprecise input parameter estimates. An analyst should be faulted if they recommend decisions that are not robust to imprecise assumptions. While there is continual evidence that such parameters are difficult to estimate precisely, it is also true that there are methods to hedge against such uncertainty.
