The analysis of the complex relationships between an effective mission and the components that contribute to that effectiveness is critical to understanding mission or system of system risks. As systems of systems become more complex and interdependencies more subtle, it becomes imperative to quantify these relationships instead of relying solely on the intuitive judgment of experts familiar with the systems. Once quantified, analysis can be performed to give greater insight into where the greatest risks are, how the risks can be abated via system investments, or how the risks can be leveraged if one wished to impair other’s mission.

摘要

The analysis of the complex relationships between an effective mission and the components that contribute to that effectiveness is critical to understanding mission or system of system risks. As systems of systems become more complex and interdependencies more subtle, it becomes imperative to quantify these relationships instead of relying solely on the intuitive judgment of experts familiar with the systems. Once quantified, analysis can be performed to give greater insight into where the greatest risks are, how the risks can be abated via system investments, or how the risks can be leveraged if one wished to impair other’s mission.
