The Philippine aquaculture and fishery industry faces challenges like eutrophication, where excessive nutrients cause plant and algae overgrowth, depleting oxygen and leading to fish mortality. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a nanobubble aeration system (Speece cone setup) in improving dissolved oxygen (DO) levels, pH levels and fish growth in a Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). Using Nile Tilapia as the test species, two aquariums were set up: one with standard aeration (control) and the other with Speece cone nanobubble aeration. Over eight weeks, DO levels and fish growth were monitored weekly. Data analysis through frequency distribution and t-tests showed that the Speece cone-based aeration system outperformed the controlled aeration system, delivering higher DO levels and lower pH levels, and larger fish within the study period. The study recommends using nanobubbles in RAS to enhance fish growth, pH and DO levels, with a focus on the benefits of Speece cone-based aeration system. Regular maintenance of these systems is essential, and future research should aim to refine nanobubble system designs and assess long-term aquatic impacts.

摘要
