Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is known to be effective in patients with somatic symptoms and related disorders (SSRDs). History taking, physical examination, and investigations can be used to confirm or refute the patients’ beliefs. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) can be considered a meaningful therapy for patients with SSRDs because it encourages them to be more willing to receive mental healthcare. Psychiatric consultation can be used as a therapeutic strategy. Additionally, psychopharmacotherapy is essential for the management of somatization. Considering the time limitations for physicians, integrated brief therapy is recommended for such patients. This form of therapy should be multimodal, combining psychiatric consultation, CBT, and psychopharmacotherapy.
