A simplified form of the AHD transition criterion, which was originally derived on the basis of linear stability theory and self-similar Falkner-Skan flow, is assessed on its prediction accuracy for non-self-similar flows. Comparing the results of the transition criterion in form of N-factor envelopes with calculations from linear stability theory, a modification of the transition criterion is needed to account for local blowing or suction and local deceleration or acceleration of the flow.

摘要

A simplified form of the AHD transition criterion, which was originally derived on the basis of linear stability theory and self-similar Falkner-Skan flow, is assessed on its prediction accuracy for non-self-similar flows. Comparing the results of the transition criterion in form of N-factor envelopes with calculations from linear stability theory, a modification of the transition criterion is needed to account for local blowing or suction and local deceleration or acceleration of the flow.
