These discussions are taking place across various scientific disciplines, as well as in politics and the economy. But what does the general public know about AI? Can the public identify when AI is being used? Which uses are seen as appropriate, and which are not? This article is based on the 2024 Digital Skills Austria study and reveals that the public often struggles to identify instances of AI usage in everyday contexts, while misjudging scenarios that could lead to hallucinations and misinformation.
