Comfort Properties of Enzymatically Pretreated Cotton-Polyester Blended Fabrics
摘要
The aim of this work is to investigate the comfort performance of enzymatically pretreated cotton-polyester blended fabrics by jointly analyzing moisture management and tactile-thermal properties. For this purpose, enzymatic pretreatment was performed with pectinase (Biosol PRO), esterase (Texazym PES) and a combination of both enzymes. The analysis of the results obtained by measurements with the Moisture Management Tester (MMT) and the Fabric Touch Tester (FTT) provides a comprehensive understanding of the influence of enzyme pretreatment on fabric comfort. Although esterase and pectinase act on different components of the fabric, both contribute to increased fabric comfort. It should be noted that enzyme treatment, especially when both enzymes were used, contributes to fabric comfort by increasing hydrophilicity, moisture management, smoothness and warmth. The study shows that enzymatic pretreatment is a sustainable method for improving the comfort properties of cotton-polyester fabrics.
