Evaluation of Pattern Design of Women’s Jackets with Sleeves with Wedges
摘要
The paper presents an evaluation of the pattern design of women’s jackets with kimono sleeves and combining kimono sleeves with other types of sleeves with wedges in the context of the design decisions and the ease of the technological making. The evaluation is based on a survey with 18 specialists with expertise in pattern making and clothing technology: fashion designers, fashion and apparel engineers, as 4 of them are PhD students. All respondents were invited for their knowledge and practical and analytic skills in pattern making and clothing technology. Based on the analysis, empirical weighting coefficients were determined, reflecting the real significance of each criterion for evaluating women’s wedged-sleeve jacket pattern designs, according to the collected ratings of the respondents. By applying their results to the average values for the fifth design model, an objectively weighted application of the results was achieved. The pattern design of the jackets with wedged kimono sleeves is revealed as the leading choice. The kimono sleeves are followed by the wedged sleeves combined with semi-raglan and raglan ones.
