Effect of Seams on Fabric Drape
摘要
The paper investigates the correlation between the draping geometry of fabric samples with and without seams, tested on a drapemeter. An image analysis method has been developed and applied for these analyses. Since garment construction requires connecting the pattern cuts with seams, the fabric samples were analyzed without and with various numbers of seams. The intention is to investigate the influence of seams on the draping shape of fabrics and to eventually relate it to the draping of finished garment styles with an appropriate number of seams. The results show an increase in the orthogonal draping area of the fabric samples with an increase of the number of seams from 2 to 6. There is a strong correlation between the number of seams and: the draping coefficient, the draped area and the circularity. The relationship between the draping coefficient and the draped area and the circularity was also confirmed.
