Development of the MRT-J Application User Interface to Enhance User Experience Using Usability Testing and SUS Method
摘要
Changes in interaction patterns among the Indonesian population, which has now entered an era of contactless virtual interaction, have driven the government to redesign urban development using the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) approaches. One initiative supporting TOD is the provision of applications for public transportation, such as the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT-J) application. This application aims to facilitate public access and usage of public transportation. However, there are issues regarding the suboptimal usability of the MRT-J application, impacting its effectiveness and efficiency. This study aims to evaluate the MRT-J application using usability testing methods, the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire, and redesign the application based on three main criteria: effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction. Several changes and additions of key features have been made to the MRT-J application, including points, cards, schedule, density, and routes. The SUS Score results for the MRT-J application before and after the redesign were 47.08 (poor) and 82.08 (excellent), respectively. The results of this study are expected to provide concrete and practical recommendations for improving the quality and usability of the MRT-J application, thereby supporting the more effective and efficient implementation of TOD in the context of smart city development in Indonesia.
