The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on English Language Learning: A Mixed-Methods Study at Al-Baha University

This study explores the impact of AI-powered tools on English language learning outcomes among students at Al-Baha University in Saudi Arabia. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods. A questionnaire, pre-tests, post-tests, and a pilot study validated the research instruments. A convenience sample of 50 students and 50 instructors participated, revealing a positive attitude toward AI-powered tools in both groups. Significant improvements in language learning outcomes were observed. Grammarly and Quizlet were selected for their ability to provide personalized feedback and enhance engagement. The study’s findings contribute to understanding AI’s cognitive, social, and emotional dimensions in education. The results have implications for educators, policymakers, and researchers, highlighting AI’s potential to enhance language learning. The study’s insights can inform the development of AI-powered language learning tools and support the integration of AI in educational settings. By exploring AI’s role in language learning, this study offers valuable contributions to the field of language education.
