The WHO Intersectoral Global Action Plan and Its Impact
摘要
The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Intersectoral global action plan on epilepsy and other neurological disorders 2022–2031 (IGAP) represents a transformative framework for addressing the global burden of neurological conditions. With five strategic objectives and six guiding principles, IGAP promotes an integrated, multi-sectoral approach to brain health, emphasizing prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. The plan mobilizes governments, civil society, healthcare providers, and international partners to advance policy prioritization, strengthen health systems, foster research and innovation, and ensure equitable access to services. Implementation efforts are tailored to national contexts, with growing momentum in low-resource settings and early signs of progress. WHO supports IGAP implementation through advocacy, technical assistance, development of normative guidance, and facilitation of stakeholder coordination. WHO also contributes to monitoring and evaluation efforts, including the establishment of global targets and data collection mechanisms. IGAP is positioned to significantly enhance the global public health response to neurological disorders and improve quality-of-life for affected individuals and communities.
