Introduction
摘要
In this introductory chapter, the editors lay out the impetus for this book, and illuminate some of the core questions that these chapters intend to address. They summarise current research at the nexus of sexual violence, medicine, and psychiatry. Starting from the observation that sexual violence is increasingly conceived through medical, psychological and psychiatric frameworks, the editors present how “expert” and seemingly “objective” sets of knowledge and practices can lead to exclusionary and marginalising uses. They position medical, psychological and psychiatric fields in relation to structural and political dynamics of power. They present how each chapter documents, in various geographical sites, historical moments, and disciplines, how the harms of sexual violence can be located in the care responses publicly designed to intervene.
