摘要

Disinformation is the spread of inaccurate, false, fake, or misleading information intended to harm the public or for personal gain. It spreads 6 times faster than actual events due to platform algorithms and emotions. Political polarization, lack of digital literacy, and trust in institutions contribute to its spread. Social media and generative AI are emerging as tools to detect and combat disinformation, but they also pose challenges. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of generative AI in reducing political disinformation, examine its limitations in detecting such disinformation, and evaluate its role in raising public awareness. Disinformation in politics significantly impacts voters’ decision-making and democracy. Social media platforms spread fake news and deepfakes, making it difficult to identify traditional methods. GEN-AI tools like DCGANs, Autoencoder, MDS, Grover-Mega, and GPT-2 help detect and rectify ambiguities. Public awareness programs and legal reforms are needed to protect democratic rights and prevent further spread of disinformation.
