Exploring Gender Wage Disparities in Society 5.0: A Case Study of Leadership Roles in Portuguese Banking
摘要
Gender inequality in the banking sector has been manifested by the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions and the persistent gender pay gap, limiting the potential for innovation and growth in these financial institutions. This study aims to investigate the presence of wage disparities in management positions within the Portuguese banking sector. Through a quantitative analysis of public data from 76 Caixas affiliated with Banco Caixa de Crédito Agrícola Mútuo between 2021 and 2023, our findings reveal significant gender asymmetries, with notable disparities in board-level remuneration. These insights underscore the potential of Education 5.0 to address skill gaps and promote gender equity through enhanced learning and collaboration, aligning with Society 5.0’s inclusive vision.
