Exploring the Digital Shift: Advances in Fact-Checking Research
摘要
Fact-checking has become a critical tool in combating misinformation, especially in this digital era characterized by the widespread of unverified claims and the closure of major fact-checking programs. This study explores the evolution and influence of fact-checking research through a bibliometric analysis, focusing on publications indexed in the Scopus database. The total number of results in this dataset is 10.525. Growth is particularly significant after key global events, including the 2016 US elections, Brexit, and the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper identifies influential country clusters, keyword clusters, and organizational clusters by using tools such as VOSviewer. Among emerging trends of fact-checking research is how the field increasingly intersects with artificial intelligence, misinformation, and public health and political communication. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the landscape of the field and identifies current trends and emergent areas to which future research may be directed.
