Although published over a decade ago, the volume’s conceptual and empirical contributions remain highly relevant, particularly because it examines the institutional diversity, political economyPolitical economy tensions, and sector-specific regulatory outcomesOutcomes in jurisdictions with similar challenges to South Africa. Below is an overview on how the lessons from the Global South from the selected four chapters of the book are integrated into this book, along with relevant comparative questions that can enrich the case studies and cross-sector reflections. The questions below build on and reinforce those already raised in Section 2.3. Together, these two sets of questions underscore the strong parallels between the institutional challenges faced by South AfricaAfrica and those documented elsewhere in the Global South.
