As the demand for electric parking brake (EPB) systems increases, particularly for heavy-duty pick-up trucks and trailers, the need for more efficient and compact brake systems has become critical. The 2-Piston MoC (Motor-on-Caliper) system, developed to address the limitations of conventional brake systems in terms of parking performance and size, integrates both service and parking brake functions into a single brake system. This research details the design, features, and performance of the 2-Piston MoC system. The design incorporates a high-performance motor, a force-balancing mechanism to ensure even clamping force distribution across both pistons, and a robust control system that adjusts operating clamping force based on slope conditions. The system’s performance was validated through laboratory and vehicle-level evaluations, showing that the 2-Piston MoC meets the required parking performance under various environmental conditions and vehicle loads. The system demonstrated superior performance in clamping force, parking brake torque, and overall durability, making it a promising solution for heavy-duty pick-up trucks markets.

摘要
